What Parents are Saying

“My daughter's first experience with Tristen was in a weekly writing session over Zoom, and even virtually, Tristen connected with her so fully and easily. She met her right where she was at and expertly navigated how to gently stretch her forward, while celebrating her natural ability. My daughter and her peers were so inspired and motivated by the creativity Tristen ignited in them that they would stay on Zoom for hours after their session to continue their stories! My kiddo is not an 'eager participant' of most extracurricular activities, but she can't get enough of Tristen's writing classes and retreats - it's the only after-school activity she gets genuinely excited about. Tristen also taught my daughter how to give and receive feedback, which I also find incredibly valuable.”

“Ms. Sturm is an amazing and gifted teacher whom we trust to get the most out of our daughter. She has helped my daughter find her writing voice and explore ideas we didn’t even know she was interested in. Our daughter is always excited to come to The Writers' Studio and has finally begun to see herself as a writer. It has helped her build self-confidence and improve in all areas of her schoolwork. Our family loves The Writers' Studio and wholeheartedly recommends it to any student and parent!”

“Excellent - Ms. Sturm is, without a doubt, my children’s favorite teacher, and having her continue to be in their lives through The Writers' Studio is a gift for all of us.”

— 4th Grade Parent

“I was so impressed with the creativity and depth that Ms. Sturm inspired in my children’s writing. At the final reading of the workshop, both girls shared very different but equally engaging and well-developed stories. They continue to write (though don’t always share!).”

What Kids are Saying

“It was great; the writing went by so fast, and it was incredibly creative.”

— Bo, 4th Grade

“Ms. Sturm’s way of teaching really encouraged me to include more details in my writing. She also had this thing called “Writer’s Dice” for when anyone had writer’s block. Writer’s dice has a few different categories, such as setting, character, and miscellaneous. Overall, the workshop unlocked my writing mind!”

— Charlotte, 5th Grade

“At this retreat we can go outside or get cozy inside to get inspiration. I love this experience because I can share my story and have feedback and then work a little more, get feed back then work again. Her workshop helped me with my writing.”

— Sadie, 5th Grade

“I had so much fun, I had good idea's and such a beautiful place to write in, the teacher is a great listener and it inspired me even more to write often. ”

— Asher, 5th Grade
